VILLAGE FETES

In The Yorkshire Dales

Some of the summer fetes and fell races we play at include:

Embsay Fete

A wonderful little village fete featuring live music, food, drink, craft stalls, and the famous Embsay Fell Race (starting at 4pm). Traditionally held in July on the fields adjoining Kirk Lane.

The Littondale Fete

Held annually in August on Arncliffe Village Green, Yorkshire Dales, typically featuring the popular Littondale Fete 4 mile road race through the local lanes and a full programme of BOFRA fell races. It serves as a celebration of village life, bringing together residents from across the dale.

Littondale is also where many scenes of All Creatures Great and Small are filmed. If you're a fan you will probably recognise the village green and the back of James Herriots vets practice and other characters houses.

Burnsall Feast Sports and Charities Day

The sports date back hundreds of years and it is known that even prior to the Elizabethan period celebrations of some kind occurred on the Village Green to commemorate the Feast of St Wilfrid.

The Burnsall Classic is a fell race for everyone. Short at just 1.5 miles, it is simply a race to the top of the 386m Burnsall Fell and back. The fell race is also the highlight of the ancient Burnsall Feast Sports which since the 16th century have taken place on the village green alongside the River Wharfe in front of the Red Lion pub. Children’s sports, adult novelty races and a pet show makes this a fun and relaxed day out in the Dales. There is also a Duck Race, BBQ and cake stall to raise funds for St Wilfrid`s Church. Other charities are invited to attend to raise money for their different causes.

Hebden Sports and Fell Run

Stalls, games like skittles, bat the rat, great food, tombolas, face painting, traditional brass band music...alongside the traditional fell races (3.2 km distance with a 120m climb) make for a great day out.

Location: Next to the Clarendon pub in Hebden, 2 miles east of Grassington.
