About Skipton Brass Band
Skipton Brass Band is a community brass band comprised of players, from all walks of life, of all standards from music graduates to near beginners. The wonderful thing about any community music ensemble is that people, who would never normally cross paths, come together to create music to entertain and uplift the lives of others. Skipton Brass is no exception.
The band has been going for about 150 years!! See history
We currently rehearse from one of Skiptons' most incredible and glorious buildings, Holy Trinity Church at the top of the High Street.

Whilst striving to enjoy ourselves and create memorable experiences through our performances and community engagements, we also manage in true brass band style to have a few cheeky pints along the way!
We have reached national and global audiences with our television performances but our main audiences are in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. A place we are proud to call home. Feel free to reach out to us for any enquiries or collaborations at skiptonbrassband@hotmail.co.uk or if you'd like to come along and play.
Our claim to fame and The Yorkshire Dales claim to fame is our beloved "All Creatures Great And Small", the global hit television drama based around a 1940's vet, James Herriot, who serves the animals of the Dales. If you've never seen the show it's like having a big hug through a screen.
Skipton Brass were delighted to be asked to play the part of a 1945 brass band to bring to life the party scene of VJ Day celebrations and also the, now iconic, scene of the beacons being lit, across Northern England, on this victorious day marking the end of the war. Our conductor Adrian Austin suggested the music "I Vow To Thee My Country" and arranged it for a small group to play on the show. Audiences around the world have written to us to say how much they loved the music and our performance of it.
