MUSICAL DIRECTOR
ADRIAN AUSTIN
Adrian has been the musical director of Skipton Brass Band since March 2025 and is also a Bb Bass (Tuba) player for Championship Section Brass Band Hammonds in Huddersfield.
Originally from Lancaster, he is also currently at the University of Huddersfield studying for a music degree. His playing career began at the age of 11 where he played euphonium for the Stalybridge Old Band, shortly followed by other local bands such as Delph and Greenfield in the local Saddleworth area.
Adrian is fortunate enough during his career so far that he has had the opportunity to play at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Perth Concert Hall in Scotland, the Glasshouse in Gateshead and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
We are honoured to have him in the band room bringing his wealth of experience and ideas to the band.
His longest and most successful period was with the Pemberton Old Wigan 'A' Band where he played for over 9 years, collecting trophies along the way. He is very happy conducting Skipton and playing Bb Bass performing at a variety of entertaining concerts and often competing at the British Open Championships, National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and Brass in Concert.
